What is Baptism? Is it important?

Baptism

There is an old saying; that on judgment day, the worst thing that can happen is for someone condemned turning to you and asking  YOU  why YOU didn’t tell them.

This is my attempt to tell you, you will accept it or reject it, or ignore it but at least you have been told.

This is about a five – ten-minute read, and could be the most important 5 – 10 minutes of your life, or totally meaningless… the choice is yours.

First I would like to state a few facts.

  1. We have one gospel, and only one.
  2. We live by every word that proceedeth from the mouth of God;  Matthew 4:4
  3. This means what it says… we live (eternally) by every word… not a few… not just the words we like… and not by any words added by man.
  4. Beware of false prophets coming to you in sheep’s clothing ( really nice, seemingly sincere men & Women) but inwardly are ravenousness wolves… Matthew 7: 15
  5. There are men who teach false doctrines, by adding to the word, leaving out words, perverting certain words, and preach on the silence of the word.
  6. The best place to find a demon is behind the pulpit masquerading as a minister of the word.
  7. Matthew 7:14 the path to eternal life is difficult, not easy, but difficult, and not many find it. We are in the end days, and much of the church is living and hoping under a false pretense and understanding of the Bible.
  8. A false preacher is anyone teaching a lie or error as a biblical fact intentionally.

Fact # 1 The gospel was being perverted even in the beginning, while the Apostles were still teaching.

A false doctrine has been preached since the beginning.

Galatians 1:6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel,

7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ.

8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.

9 As we have said before, so now I say again if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

Demons behind the pulpit masquerading as ministers of the word.

2 Corinthians 11:12-15

12 But what I do, I will also continue to do, that I may cut off the opportunity from those who desire an opportunity to be regarded just as we are in the things of which they boast.

13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ.

14 And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.

15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.

Baptism facts:

The form of Baptism is a great source of argument…

many believe, as I do, that it means total immersion.

The reason for this is through scripture, we are told we are buried with Christ and are raised up from the grave as a new man.

One thing is certain… Full immersion baptism meets the requirements of baptism, there is no doubt in this. While other forms of baptism may meet the requirement for baptism, then again, maybe not.

So, why gamble? Just be baptized in the form and fashion that leaves no doubt.

Is Baptism Required for Salvation?

Simple answer: Yes

Scripture clearly tells that we must believe (confess Christ) repent (a turning away, physically, and mentally: a change of mind) our sins, confessing them,  be Be Baptized, and then we are added to the church and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:38-41:   38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”

41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

Romans 6:3-4:  3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?

4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

1 Peter 3:21 and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

This is as far as you need to read to understand the truth if you are interested, or concerned. If you concerned you will find more verses below, and I am always available to answer questions

What can stand in the way of my being baptized? ” 38And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. 39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing.

Romans 6:3-18:  3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. 5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. 6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— 7 because anyone who has died has been set free from sin. 8Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. 10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. 11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13 Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. 14 For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace. 15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means! 16 Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance. 18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
